To The Headwaters

November 12, 13, 14
8:00 pm Nunez Community College Auditorium

From the team that brought you An Evening with Betsy, The Altos, and the Voices of Louisiana …Join St. Bernard’s own Evacuation Theatre Troupe on the trip of a lifetime as they go..."TO THE HEADWATERS," a comic and poignant look at life on the road in a 37 foot RV.

The Evacuation Theatre Troupe, a group of St. Bernard actors and educators who, in the fall of 2006, brought the story of the history and heartache of its hometown to audiences across the country.

The ETT is joined by the songs and sounds of the St. Bernard Voices Chorus - Pam Weggener, Marie Cosse', Katherine Lemoine - under the direction of Peggy Weggener, sharing a message of hope and resiliency. Starring Barry Lemoine, Christian Bordelon, Will Schneider, Rose Marie Sand, Katie Betz and Annette Campo. Written by Barry Lemoine and Christian Bordelon and directed by Barry Lemoine. Funded through a grant by the Arts Council of New Orleans.

"Christian Bordelon and William Schneider wrung every comic and touching nuance from the Evacuation Theatre Troupe's account of traveling in an RV "To the Headwaters" of the Mississippi River. Their journey included an encounter with police in Red Cloud, Nebraska; the generosity and love of the people in a small Kansas town; and the magical moment of standing in the water where the Mississippi begins." by David Cuthbert, Times Picayune

2010 Scholarship Fundraiser
Thursday October 29, 2009

Shine Productions is excited to bring Cristabel and the Jons unique brand of swing music to local audiences as a fund raiser for the Voices Foundation's scholarships. Christabel and the Jons is a southern swing band based in east Tennessee that blends familiar standards with modern vintage sounding originals. Their music is acoustic and colorful, a blend of Appalachian mountain music and vintage swing. The group saunters and sways together with ease. Lead singer Christa DeCicco steals hearts with her come-hither delivery and charismatic stage performance. Her songwriting is heartfelt and nostalgic, and her distinctive, sultry voice brings it all home. Old suitcases and dressy vintage costumes from the 1920s-1950s give the performance a torch singer, speakeasy feel.

The group will be joined by the Chalmette High Jazz Band, under the direction of Jason Rusk, for one night only, poolside at the Buccanneer Villa Club, 8330 Patricia Street in Chalmette.

Tickets are $10, available at the door, or call 504.301.8770 for more information.
